Validating SDC Verifier Results Against Engineering Standards

BV NR615 (2023) Plate Buckling — Verified Benchmark (Hand Calcs vs SDC Verifier)

#Bureau Veritas #BV NR615 #Plate Buckling

We validated SDC Verifier’s BV NR615 (2023) Plate Buckling check against hand calculations on a ship-structure test plate. The focus plate was 3.4 × 1.35 × 12 mm, mild steel; stresses (σx, σy, τ) came from FEM, and the same inputs were used in both methods.

Eurocode 9 Welds — Verified Benchmark (Hand Calcs vs SDC Verifier)

#Eurocode 9 #Welds & Joints

We built a minimal, realistic EC9 weld example to validate SDC Verifier: a 6061-T6 aluminium T-joint with a single fillet weld across 200 mm. Forces in all three axes generate bending about x and y. We computed throat stresses at four points and checked both weld capacity and HAZ requirements.…

AS 4100:2020 Fatigue — Verified Benchmark (Hand Calcs vs SDC Verifier)

#AS 4100 #Fatigue Analysis #Fatigue Checks

This benchmark validates SDC Verifier’s AS 4100:2020 fatigue check on a jacket structure. We ran two realistic load groups (with and without wind), identified the governing fillet-welded plate, and compared SDC Verifier’s results with manual AS 4100 calculations. Outcome: the weld fails fatigue on summed damage, and SDC matches hand calcs step-by-step with clause-referenced output — ready for audit.

DNV RP-C202 Plate Buckling — Benchmark (Hand Calcs vs SDC Verifier)

#DNV #Plate Buckling

This benchmark validates SDC Verifier’s implementation of DNV RP-C202 for plate/shell buckling. We ran a curved-plate case from a ship FE model (FE-derived stresses + 86 kPa lateral pressure) and compared against hand calculations; results matched step-by-step, confirming correct implementation and auditor-ready, clause-referenced reporting.

Example F.11C – Single-Angle Flexural Member with Vertical and Horizontal Loading

This benchmark reproduces the calculations and evaluation process from Example F.11C – Single-Angle Flexural Member with Vertical and Horizontal Loading in the AISC Design Examples manual. Using SDC Verifier 2025 R1, we model the same geometry, loading conditions, and material assumptions to verify alignment between automated results and the manual benchmark. The study includes uniform […]

Benchmark Comparison: DNV RP-C203 Fatigue (2016) vs (2024)

This benchmark evaluates the differences between the 2016 and 2024 versions of the DNV RP-C203 standard for fatigue resistance analysis. Using a test model composed of welded plates and meshed with shell elements, the fatigue life predictions were compared under identical loading conditions. The assessment includes both SN Curve C and SN Curve B1 classifications […]

UR S35 Plate Buckling Benchmark: Hand Calculations vs. SDC Verifier

This benchmark evaluates the implementation of the UR S35 Plate Buckling standard (February 2023, Corr. 1 Sep. 2024) using a finite element model built and checked in SDC Verifier. A steel plate model with dimensions 10.2 × 5.4 × 1.1 meters was created and loaded with realistic force cases to simulate buckling conditions. The goal […]

Plate Buckling Assessment According to LR CSR (2024) – Hand Calculations vs. SDC Verifier Validation

This benchmark evaluates the accuracy and reliability of plate buckling analysis performed using SDC Verifier by comparing it with detailed hand calculations based on the LR Common Structural Rules (CSR) for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers (2024 edition), specifically Part 1, Chapter 8 – Buckling. A test plate with dimensions 10.2 × 5.4 × 1.1 […]

Example F.10 WT-Shape Flexural Member

Example F.10 WT-Shape Flexural Member

Benchmark Scope: The analysis reviews an IPE600 spreader beam designed for 25 tons, assessing compliance with ASME BTH-1-2023 standards, specifically looking at bending stress limits and bracing requirements.

Results and Validation: Manual and software checks confirmed a 93% utilization factor, validating the beam’s compliance with standard requirements and showcasing SDC Verifier's accuracy.
