DNV RP-C201 Plate/Stiffener Buckling (2010)

Implemented according to DNV RP-C201 “Buckling Strength of Plated Structures”, October 2010.

Covers buckling checks of unstiffened plates (Chapter 6) and stiffened panels (Chapter 7).

About Standard

DNV RP-C201 (2010) defines verification procedures for the buckling and ultimate strength of steel plates and stiffeners under compressive, shear, and combined loads. SDC Verifier automates the full implementation of Chapters 6 and 7, including support for:

  • Plate buckling under longitudinal, transverse, shear, and biaxial loads
  • Stiffener buckling under axial and lateral pressures, including interaction formulas
  • CSR-based plate dimension recognition and thickness averaging
  • L, T, and flat bar stiffener types
  • Calculation of effective plate widths and η-factors for torsional checks

The implementation supports both individual load cases and envelope-based Load Groups. All stress conversion and buckling criteria are applied per DNV formulation, including options for conservative shear treatment and panel recognition via the Panel Finder.
