Verification of plate, stiffener, and girder buckling in plated structures according to DNV RP-C201 (September 2023)
The DNV RP-C201 Plate/Stiffener/Girder Buckling (2023) implementation in SDC Verifier verifies the buckling strength of plates, stiffeners, and girders in plated structures according to DNV Recommended Practice – Buckling strength of plated structures, September 2023. It works directly on recognized sections and plates inside the FEA workflow, combining Panel Finder, Effective Plate Width, material data, and section-based calculations to evaluate member stability under compression, shear, lateral pressure, and combined loading.
What this implementation checks
How it works in SDC Verifier
Using Panel Finder, SDC Verifier automatically recognizes plates, sections, panel dimensions, member spacing, and relevant lengths required for the standard. Plate checks use element-based or plate-averaged stresses converted into plate directions, while stiffener and girder checks use recognized section data together with Effective Plate Width results and material properties already defined in the model.
Work directly within Ansys, Femap, or Simcenter 3D without switching platforms.
Perform code checks with built-in support for ABS, AISC, Eurocode, API, and more.
Detect overstressed areas and refine your design with data-driven decisions.
Generate customizable, fully traceable reports with all calculations and references.
