ISO 19902 Connections (1st, 2007)

Strength verification of tubular joints according to Chapter 14 of ISO 19902

About ISO 19902 Connections (1st, 2007)

The ISO 19902 Connections (1st, 2007) implementation in SDC Verifier verifies the strength of tubular joints according to Chapter 14 of the standard. It evaluates joint resistance for recognized chords and braces directly in the FEA workflow, including checks for axial forcein-plane bendingout-of-plane bending, and their interaction.

Using Connection Finder, SDC Verifier automatically identifies supported joint geometry and extracts the chord and brace data required for calculation. The implementation also uses defined material yield and tensile properties, so connection checks stay linked to the actual model instead of being moved into separate manual calculations.

What this implementation checks

  • Joint axial and bending strength for simple tubular joints
  • Interaction of brace axial force and brace bending moments
  • Additional strength conditions for critical joints
  • Joint behavior for Y- and X-joints with chord cans
  • Special checks for overlapping joints, including shear and modified axial/moment conditions
